Dan + Shay won the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Tequila" at the premiere ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 10. This marks the duo's first Grammy win.
They were shocked and accepted by first saying, "Are you kidding me right now?"
"My heart is beating out of my chest right now," Dan Smyers admitted. "We had no expectations to win this. So many people to thank. Thank you to the Recording Academy and everybody who voted for us, all of the incredible artists in our category. That's the beautiful thing about Nashville and country music, we're all family and we all root for each other. I love you guys, you're amazing! Our team, our management, Jason Owen, Lisa Ray, Scooter Braun, you guys are absolutely incredible, our record label Warner Music Nashville, Scott Hendrix, our co-producer on this record, our co-writers Jordan Reynolds and Nicolle Galyon. We couldn't do this without a great song. Our beautiful better halves, Abby and Hannah we love you so much."
Shay Mooney added, "My parents watching right now at home, I love you guys. Mom and Dad, Gabby, Erica, my little boy he's two, he probably doesn't know what's going on right now, why dad's on TV. I love you Asher. To my beautiful wife Hannah thank you so much. To the Recording Academy I can't believe this just happened. I'm a little bit blown away and I might be about to pass out. Thank you so much this is an incredible honor."
