A recent rash in Country music divorces got us thinking, who will be the next Country super-couple to divorce?

Are celebrity splits more common than us regular ol' folk? From this eye-opening article on the McKinley Irvin Law firm's website, some startling figures were realized. Although the rate of divorce has been been dropping in the US since 1996, it is still around 50-percent.

Half of today's marriages end.

Think about your married friends, family members, neighbors, etc. one out of two will end with the "D" word.

Statistically speaking, that breaks down to one divorce every 36 seconds. 2,400 a day, 16,800 a week and roughly 876,000 a year.

For celebrities the divorce rate is much higher, although no definite number could be found. The website Divorcehelp360 lists the four main reasons as to why high profile marriages fizzle.

  • Temptation - Actors, musicians, and comediennes travel to a lot of different towns or are far away on a movie set for months at a time. Alone.
  • Jealousy - Maybe one spouse has gotten three blockbuster movies in a row, while their significant other is doing Band-Aid commercials. Or what about that hot co-star and the steamy sex scene?
  • Economic Support - When a financially stable couple's marriage heads downward, they don't have to worry about the expensive and monetary burden of a divorce.
  • Narcissism - Paparazzi following you, fans screaming out your name, tons of love and adulation from strangers. Sometimes a spouse believes the hype and treats their partner as inferior.

It is sad and we would not wish this on any couple.
