Fred Phelps, the founder of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church has died. Am I wrong to hope the protests he encouraged die too?

Maybe you haven't heard of the Kansas-based, Westboro Baptist Church?

A little background:

  1. They gained infamy for protesting the funerals of military members, people with AIDS, and others after the Supreme Court ruling that the church and its members were protected under the First Amendment right to protest and couldn't be sued for damages for inflicting pain on grieving families. They believed these deaths were God's punishment for America's tolerance of gay people.

No cause had been given for the 84 year old's passing, and members will NOT be holding a funeral.-Probably out of fear that there would be protesters!

I am trying to be a good Christian, but at times like this it's hard! Frankly I am GLAD the man is gone and all I can do now is pray that his horrible practices die with him . . .

Am I the only one that feels this way? Give us your feedback in the comment section below, we might even use it on air!
