What better way to show a lowland friend the beautiful state of Colorado by taking him over Red Mountain Pass to see the Aspen changing colors and mountains blanketed with snow.

We embarked on our early-morning journey with cold weather in the air and snowstorms blowing in through the gorgeous San Juan Mountains, I was hoping to scare the bejesus out of him by taking him along the Million Dollar Highway -- mission accomplished. It was such an awe inspiring view that blew a Michiganders mind.

When we reached about 11,000 feet, snow was flying with the temps down in the low 30s, but that didn't stop the many tourists and photographers from taking in the bright colors of the Aspens and fresh blanket of snow on the San Juans.

Take a look at some of the photos snapped on our tour to Silverton.
