Where is Colorado's Sulphur Cave?

Colorado's Sulphur Cave is on land owned by the city of Steamboat Springs. The Sulphur Cave and Springs are found near the popular Howelsen Ski Area located south of the river not far from Lincoln Avenue. Sulphur Cave is about 25 feet deep and about 200 feet long.

Why is Colorado's Sulphur Cave So Dangerous?

Entry into Sulphur Cave is strictly prohibited by the city of Steamboat Springs. Toxic gasses will cause sickness, severe illness, passing out, and even death. Experts at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science say the gasses inside include hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Both can cause nasty side effects after only a couple of breaths. This smelly Colorado cave oozes acid strong enough to burn right through your clothes. 

A Natural National Landmark?
