Snowy Roads Plague Colorado Mountain Passes

Driving in snow is one thing. Driving in the snow along a winding mountain road is another. Add infamous I-70 traffic, and you have an adventure on your hands. At 7:40 this morning, CDOT advises motorists to anticipate a two-hour driving time to get from Denver to Eisenhower Tunnel.
These images were captured in the 7 a.m. hour on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18. Most of us were well aware snow would be coming to the mountains. According to the National Weather Service, in areas like Vail, snow will continue through tonight, and possibly into tomorrow.
By Tuesday, even Western Colorado can expect some snow. Gunnison can expect the same, with a low of -3 by Tuesday.
Personally, I'm going to consider myself blessed. I'm at a keyboard in a cozy studio. While today's weather is light-years from horrendous, it's nice to not have to drive over I-70. If you are traveling, be safe, and allow extra travel time.
