West Nile Virus has already been reported in Arapahoe County for 2025, which could mean a rough mosquito season ahead for our state.

In Mesa County, Colorado, officials have identified evidence of Aedes aegypti, a mosquito species known for transmitting diseases like yellow fever and dengue.

If new mosquito species are identified in the state this summer, it could mean even higher disease transmission rates.

Thankfully, one of Colorado's best resources for mosquito surveillance is here in Grand Junction. The Grand River Mosquito Control District tracks mosquito populations and control measures in Mesa County that you can follow at GRMCD.ORG.

Vector Disease Control International oversees state-wide mosquito control, including spraying for adult mosquitoes. Early this season, VDCI is already active in Boulder and Grand Counties.

The Centers for Disease Control gets the job of tracking West Nile in Colorado and throughout the country. Their complete 2024 data is found here.
