Two Busy Montrose Roads Are About to Look Very Different
June 1 marked the beginning of Colorado’s summer road construction season, and if you commute through Montrose, there are some new delays to take note of.
Projects are underway now that will impact commutes, school routes, and access to nearby neighborhoods throughout the summer. Here are the latest additions to the city’s annual street maintenance.

6700 Road is currently closed between U.S. Highway 50 and LaSalle Road. Crews are beginning summer upgrades that include milling, asphalt, leveling, and new pavement. Through traffic is being redirected while the work is completed. Montrose officials say 6700 Road improvements will make for better driving conditions, extending the life of this North/South route east of town.
Nevada Avenue Is Getting More Than a Fresh Layer of Asphalt
Several projects on North Nevada Avenue will mean delays and possible closures from East Main Street to North Second Street near Buckley Park. These projects will include replacing sections of curb, gutter, sidewalks, and ADA-accessible ramps before resurfacing the street. If you walk or bike in this area, these enhancements will make those activities safer. Portions of this corridor will be brought up to current accessibility standards in Montrose.

Both projects will mean temporary closures, detours, reduced speeds, and delays as the work gets done. If this work is happening near one of your routes through town, now is the time to consider an alternate route or avoid these road work zones during peak travel times.
