At one point in time, we've all seen a spider in real life or on social media that made us yell "kill it with fire!". A Colorado man near Longmont took that phrase quite literally when he caught a home on fire.

The man was clearing cobwebs at his mother's home with a blowtorch in the crawlspace area of the house when the home caught fire. According to the Denver Channel, when the man realized the home was on fire, he attempted to extinguish the fire for approximately an hour before calling emergency crews.

The 39-year-old man told investigators that he did use a blowtorch to clear out the cobwebs from the crawlspace. The man was taken into custody and is facing several charges in relation to the fire. One of those charges includes first-degree arson.

The fire caused approximately $100,000 in damages.

Let this be a lesson to you if you ever want to take the "kill it with fire" saying literally, you may want to think twice as it could end up with you in handcuffs and being charged with arson. Your best bet is to grab your trusty broom and sweep them away. Worst case scenario, you throw your broom away. That would always be better than burning down your home any day of the week.
