This weekend, Grand Junction has a chance to celebrate the defending National Champion CMU Cycling Team along with several Western Slope breweries for a weekend of beers and bikes.

The 4th Annual Maverick Classic Beer Fest returns to downtown Grand Junction, and this means you are likely to encounter some street closures in the area this weekend.

Grand Junction's Maverick Classic Beer Fest

Grand Junction's Maverick Classic Beer Fest returns to the downtown area this Saturday, March 29th, with the beer fest taking place between 4th and 5th Streets along Colorado Avenue. The event opens at 2 pm with the last pour called promptly at 6 pm.

Tickets include unlimited samples while supplies last. Featured breweries include: Gemeni Beer Company, Palisade Brewing, Silver Basin Brewing, Talbott's Cider Co, Shelter Distilling, Trail Life Brewing, Rock Slide Brewery, and Ska Brewing (Durango).

Two Events Will Cause Area Closures

Saturday, March 29th, features the Maverick Classic Criterium bike race through downtown Grand Junction. Races will begin at 11 am, and the last race of the day takes off at 5:30 pm. Downtown street closures will be in place most of the day from 3rd Street to 6th Street between Rood and Colorado.

Sunday, March 30th, features the Maverick Classic Road Race in Whitewater, Colorado. The road race stretches over 9 miles and will run down Purdy Mesa Road to Kannah Creek Road to Divide Road in Whitewater. Races on Sunday will run from about 8 am to Noon.

Saturday events are open to the public. All are welcome inside the Beer Fest area, but only ticket holders wearing event wristbands will be served. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.

Parking for the events on Saturday is available at the 5th and Rood Avenue garage. More parking can be found at 7th and Colorado Avenue. Street parking will be available on the adjacent streets near the event.
