If you have never driven down Struthers Avenue in Grand Junction or played frisbee golf on Watson Island, then you may never have noticed the children's castle near the Colorado River.

Upon first glance, the castle takes you by surprise. It's all a part of Western Colorado's Botanical Gardens. The castle and secret garden are one of several themed areas that are part of the 15-acre site near the 5th Street bridge.

The Castle and Secret Garden is one of several themed gardens that are part of the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens in Grand Junction. Most of the gardens are available as a backdrop for special events and gatherings. The Castle and Secret Garden can hold up to 60 guests, and is available for $75 to $100 per hour.

The children's castle is on the West end of the Botanical Gardens next to the smaller parking area. If you have little ones seeing it for the first time, it can be fun to park in the lot furthest from the castle so they can discover it as they walk through the garden and into the play area.

Are Grand Junction's Botanical Gardens Open Year Round?

While hours may vary, the gardens are open year-round in Grand Junction. As of June 2025, the gardens are closed on weekends. You can also check the signs in the parking area for hours of operation at 655 Struthers Ave in Grand Junction.
