The holiday spirit is in the air, and now is the perfect time to consider the non-profits that mean the most to you. Get your list together, Colorado Gives Day is coming up December 4.

What exactly is Colorado Gives Day? According to the official webpage:

Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Donations are accepted through ColoradoGives.org.

Colorado Gives Day is presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank. This annual statewide movement celebrates and increases philanthropy in Colorado through online giving.

According to the webpage, 2018 is the seventh year the organizations have participated. The $1 Million Incentive Fund created by the partners is one of the largest giving-day incentive funds in the country.

Hold it! What is this about an incentive fund? According to the webpage:

If a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total amount of money raised on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund. At the completion of Colorado Gives Day, the Foundation will determine each nonprofit's proportionate share of the incentive fund by dividing the total amount each charity raised by the total amount of donations to all participating nonprofits. This amount will then be multiplied by the total amount of dollars in the Incentive Fund.

The webpage provides the following example:

Individual Charity's Amount Raised ($10,000) divided by the Total Amount Raised on Colorado Gives Day ($10,000,000) x Total Amount in Incentive Fund ($1,000,000) = Individual Charity's Share of Incentive Fund ($1,000*)
