Colorado will open a new Megastore in September with an indoor Ferris wheel, of course.

Sporting goods company Scheel's is building one of its biggest stores in Johnstown, Colo., southeast of Highway 34 and Interstate 25.

Just how big? 250,000 square feet. That's roughly the same area as 4-1/2 football fields in size. What is going to go into that behemoth? Practically everything. The 65 foot tall Ferris wheel, located in the atrium, will be the crowning jewel. Other attractions include a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, Lundeen family bronze sculptures, close to 90 different types of stores and a huge Broncos pro shop.

Are you looking forward to taking a road trip to check this out when it opens? I remember when the Mall of America in Minnesota opened and everyone came out in droves to see this thing. Well, the first time I went I got lost. THAT was traumatic. I was a kid. That's why I have never been a huge fan of the 'MEGA' type complexes. But, on a positive, Scheel's is reporting that this facility will employ around 450 Colorado residents. That's a good thing.
