Colorado DOT Uses WWII Howitzer [VIDEO]
Check this out! In an effort to help clear avalanche prone areas, the Colorado Department of Transportation is using World War II equipment.
The 105 mm Howitzer is courtesy of the Unites States Army. This area in Red Mountain Pass is just one of the areas the CDOT will use the Howitzer to help with avalanche control.
Thanks to this report from Epoch Times, it gives us an up close look at how this legendary weapon is now being used for something else other than war. The 105 mm Howitzer shoots a 40 pound missile seven miles away into areas where the CDOT fears too much snow is just waiting to wreak havoc. The projectile breaks up the snow and then sends it down the mountain in a more controlled operation.
