A Treasure Falls Miracle

On the morning of January 15, the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office started to receive multiple calls about a barking/trapped dog at the top of Treasure Falls.

Despite spending several days in freezing temperatures without food and water, the pup was still alive and calling out for help.

It Takes A Colorado Village

It took several different branches of law enforcement and rescue teams to get the dog back to safety.

The Archuleta County Sheriff's Office, Upper San Juan Search & Rescue, and Wolf Creek Ski Area (Ski Patrol) all had a role in rescuing the canine.

Together they were able to safely get the pup away from the frozen waterfall and securely leashed.

Home Sweet Home

"She was in good spirits and doing well considering her week in the mountains. A warm bed and a hot meal will be well received," stated the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office.

It's heartwarming to know that even a dog's life is precious to our law enforcement and rescue teams. I'm sure that pup was more than ecstatic to have the opportunity to be reunited with her owner.

Congratulations to the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office, Upper San Juan Search & Rescue, and Wolf Creek Ski Area for a successful and safe recovery!
