Where is the highest point in Delta, County? It must be on the Grand Mesa right? Crater Peak on the Delta County side of the World's Largest Flattop Mountain reaches an elevation of 11,333 feet. However, there is another spot elsewhere in the county that goes up a little higher.

The Highest Point in Delta County Colorado

Mt. Lamborn reaches a maximum elevation of 11,402 feet making it the highest point in all of Delta County. A 7.7-mile out-and-back trail climbs nearly 4000 feet to the top, where the summit offers a view of the North Fork Valley and Paonia.

The nearby Landsend Peak stands at 10,806. Both the Mt. Lamborn and Lamborn Trails are a great way to explore both mountains for experienced hikers.

Who Is Mt. Lambron Named After?

Dr. Robert H. Lamborn (1835–1895) was born in Pennsylvania and came to Colorado as a director of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. Legend has it he traveled through the North Fork Valley as he headed West. Traces of the name 'Mt. Lamborn' can be found as far back as 1885

HighCountryShopper says the Ute Indians called Mt. Lamborn a name that translates roughly to White Buffalo Mountain. The rockslide on the mountain in the photo above is known to many in the Noth Fork Valley as the white buffalo. Others feel the rockslide is more in the shape of a lamb.
