Students nationwide are being taught to run, hide, fight when a shooter enters the school, but for a Colorado charter school, they are being trained on the fight portion.

Pinnacle Charter School outside of Denver joined teachers in the gym for training on how to rush and tackle an active shooter.

Training involves a simulated shooter roaming around the gym, using a water gun to simulate an actual firearm. The teachers then rush the shooter and the students pile on top, using their combined body weight to hold the shooter down.

The training also taught them how to barricade a classroom as well as perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The group doing the training, TAC One Consulting, also train police officers, military and civilian training for self-defense in active shooter scenarios.

The training also teaches them to recognize when to fight back if escape is not an option.

Not everyone thinks this is the smart idea, however. National School Safety Security Services president Ken Trump worries it will create a generation of martyrs, while President Donald Trump believes schools should rely on lockdown drills.

It's unfortunate that we have to include this sort of discussion when it comes to keeping our children safe from school shootings, but this is the world we live in.
