Messages and protests for racial justice across the world are now having an effect on the Colorado cannabis industry.

Dixie Elixers announced they will change their name. The company was started in 2010 with a focus on innovative, safe, and effective cannabis products. They extract THC to manufacture chocolates, dew drops, gummies, mints, and more.

Recent protests, conversations, and attention to racial injustice around the country have the company "focused" on the "pain the Dixie name can cause" because of the historical context of the word. On their website, they have a front-page announcement explaining the change.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Black community, and we stand firmly against racism and injustice. To stay true to these values, we have decided to change our name.

They went on to note that while committed to the change, it can take time. They look forward to listening to the community, employees, and customers during the transformative process.
