A couple of Western Colorado businesses have organized the cleanup of a popular local trail, and your participation will be rewarded with free beer. Interested? The event is coming up this Saturday morning, May 20.

Palisade Brewing Company and Rapid Creek Cycles and Sports will host a trail cleanup at the Palisade Rim trailhead this Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Those who volunteer their time to the cause will receive free beer coupons. In addition, Palisade Brewing Company will offer a $1 discount on their High Desert Red beer that same day.

What do you need to participate? Basically, you'll need your body, a decent pair of shoes, and a pair of work gloves. The hosts will provide as many tools as they can. In the event you have them handy, though, your own shovels, rakes, and hoes would be appreciated.

How long will this last? The plan is to work from 10 a.m. to noon. Why this Saturday? May 20th in Colorado Public Lands Day. What better opportunity to do a little work on one of the valley's best trails.

Why should you consider donating your valuable time? There are several reasons. First, the Palisade Rim Trail is nothing short of fantastic. If you've hiked it before you're well aware of why it's important this trail stay clean and well maintained. If you haven't hiked this trail before, here's your chance. When it's all said and done you'll enjoy a great experience, not to mention the satisfaction of performing a good deed and the taste of some killer beer.

The effort gets underway this Saturday. Make plans to attend. Two hours is a relatively small investment of time for such a worthy project.
