The Internet Doesn’t Hold Back on Country Stars in New ‘Mean Tweets’ [Watch]
Haters gonna hate, and they did just that during the most recent edition of "Mean Tweets" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night (Nov. 8 ) after the CMA Awards.
In honor of the big night, the late-night host gathered some of the genre's biggest acts including Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Chris Stapleton and more to read the harshest comments people on the internet could muster.
"The Zac Brown Band is on three radio stations at the same time ... As you can imagine, this is the worst day of my life #H8Them," one Twitter user wrote. Another angry tweeter got particularly aggressive with Shelton, posting, "I want to throw Blake Shelton off an highway over pass by his legs and watch him get obliterated by a Peterbuilt pulling a big stupid house."
Darius Rucker, Trace Adkins and Chris Young also partook in the silliness, facing hilariously-worded backlash against their music, with the word "sucks" coming up more than once and one person going so far as to say that Little Big Town sound like cats in a big being beaten with a tennis racket. Ouch!
Florida Georgia Line were once again a target when someone felt compelled to tweet, "Dude from Florida Georgia Line looks like Clayton Kershaw if he gave up on baseball and started making sh--ty music," giving Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly a chuckle.
"Mean Tweets" has become one of Kimmel's most popular series on his late-night show. Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton and Miranda Lambert are just a few of the other country stars who've braced the insulting messages in the name of fun.
