Cassadee Pope may be as sweet as they come, but that doesn't mean that the young country singer comes without a dark side.

While gearing up for the release of her new EP titled Summer, she sat down with Taste of Country and opened up about a heartbreak song featured on the project titled "Piano," which was inspired by a relationship gone wrong.

"I kind of let somebody take me on the wrong path for too long, and once I realized that was happening I got so frustrated," Pope admits. "One of my favorite lyrics from the song is 'I'm not a stupid girl, I should have known,' because that is so real."

She says that her goal with "Piano" was to help her fans that have gotten hurt move on. Though Pope is in a good relationship now, her favorite songs from other artists are the ones that help her get through the dark times and find the light at the end of the tunnel.

"You played me like a piano / You made it sound pretty stringin' me along / I fell for every note / Guess I didn't know it was a heartbreak song," the lyrics reflect.

"Piano" is the second track off the upcoming EP, and Pope penned the song with Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz. She hopes that fans find empowerment not only in "Piano," but in the entire Summer project, which is slated for release on June 3.
