Exactly, just what can we have as a pet here in Colorado? 

First, there are NO monkeys allowed in the state of Colorado. In 2012, 19 states including Colorado passed legislature that outlawed private monkey ownership. So, what can we legally have as pets? Well, I was more than surprised to learn what we actually can own. From a dog to a Yak. That's right, in Colorado you can have a Yak. Others that may surprise you are: ostrich, emu, llama, kangaroo, hedgehog and something called a rhea?

What in the world does a rhea eat?

Here is the list of animals that are considered 'domestic' and that can be legally owned. This list doesn't include such animals as birds, fish snakes, and other non-mammals.

I have always wanted a yak as a pet. I could sell rides on it to the neighbors. I would have to stock up on Yak Feed, though.
