The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is asking your help to identify suspects in a theft last week at the Palisade Rim Trail Head.

On Thursday, July 25, a car was broken into at the boat launch near the Palisade Rim Trail Head. Two credit cards were removed from the vehicle.

Tuesday evening, July 30, 2019, security cameras captured images of two people using the credit cards. Is it possible these suspects stole the cards because they were desperate and needed money for food? Apparently not. The cards were used at the 24 Road Adult Emporium in Grand Junction.

The two people caught on surveillance video are described as:

  • White male
  • White female
  • Both believed to be in their 30's

This crime bothers me on a number of levels. First, I park at the Palisade Rim Trail Head all the time. I use it frequently when hiking the Palisade Rim Trail. Until now I always felt safe in leaving my vehicle there. Secondly, the suspects tried to use stolen credit cards at a porn shop. Who does that?

Cameras also captured an image of the vehicle the suspects were driving. This is right up there with photos of the Loch Ness Monster, but it's all we've got.
