Did you hear energy drinks have been linked to five deaths?! Britton drinks these every day, is he gonna die!?

According to the FDA, they are investigating Monster Energy Drink's to find out if the highly-caffeinated drink is linked to five deaths and one non-fatal heart attack!

The FDA announced the probe after a wrongful death suit was filed in California by the parents of a 14-year-old girl who died after drinking 2 of Monster Energy Drinks in 24 hours.

According to the autopsy report the 14 year old died of cardiac arrhythmia due to caffeine toxicity. Of course a representative of Monster Beverage Corp. has denied any responsibility.

Just so folks understand why these drinks are so dangerous let me break it down for you: the average energy drink is sold in 24-ounce cans and contains 240 milligrams of caffeine, that's 7 times the caffeine in a 12-ounce soda!

The lawsuit charges that Monster failed to warn about the risks of drinking its products, but the label on the can says clearly that it isn't recommended for children or people that are sensitive to caffeine.

I was just warning Britton that he shouldn't drink so many of these!

So what do you think?

  • Do you think there needs to be greater regulation of the sale of energy drinks?
  • Should the drinks be banned for sale to minors?
  • Do you allow your kids to drink energy drinks?
  • How many do you drink a day?
