Are you looking for new reading material to keep you occupied during the pandemic? Might I suggest something written by a Colorado author set in Mesa Verde National Park?

The 2020 book Mesa Verde Victim by Scott Graham recently made the Denver Post's list of "10 new books from Colorado authors that deserve more attention."

The Denver Post released a list of ten recently, or soon to be published books by Colorado authors. These selections included fiction and non-fiction titles. According to the Denver Post's "The Know," these selections are standout titles for the year 2020.

As you may have discovered, I'm something of a fan of Colorado's Mesa Verde National Park. One of the books making this list is set in both Mesa Verde and Durango, Colorado. The book's author, Scott Graham, is a native of Durango.

The book Mesa Verde Victim, published June 16, 2020, by Torrey House, received numerous glowing reviews. Publisher Weekly said of the book:

Agreeable characters and an easy-to-follow plot are enhanced by beautiful landscape descriptions and intriguing local lore. Fans of straightforward regional mysteries will be rewarded.

Reviewers at Goodreads gave the book an overall rating of four out of five stars. According to Amazon.com, 58% of those who purchased the book awarded it five out of five stars.

Guess what I'm adding to my Christmas list? In this case, I'm not asking Santa to bring it to me for Christmas. I'll be purchasing this for the people on my list. This is by no means a commercial, and I haven't been asked to endorse the book. Rather, I find the subject matter compelling and know a number of Colorado and former Colorado residents who will undoubtedly feel the same way.

I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but if I do make one, it will be to read more in 2021. According to Brink News, a Nielsen survey reports 25% of people have purchased more books since the pandemic, while 18% have bought less. Go figure. Why not make the most of the slowdown and localize your reading material with this awesome selection right out of our half of the state?
