Disc Golf, also called Frisbee Golf, is growing in popularity. It's a great excuse to be active, get outside, and have some competitive fun.

Here are five great places to disc golf on the western slope, with a variety of terrains and difficulty levels. All of these have concrete tee offs.

Watson Island Disc Golf Course. It's an 18 hole course that was established in 2013. The terrain is described as mostly flat and lightly wooded. This 58-par course is located behind the Botanical Gardens.

Little Salt Wash Park. This is a shorter, 9 hole course. It's tight, which makes it more technical and unforgiving to bad throws. The course is intertwined with willows, cottonwoods, and various other trees.

Matchett ParkThis 18 hole course is hilly with cliffs and elevation, and thick brush. First tee off is just north of 28 3/4 and Patterson Rd. Not recommended to play this course if it's muddy.

Riverbend Park. This is a challenging 18 hole course in a more secluded location in Palisade. This beautiful course is surrounded by cottonwoods, but make sure to bring bug repellent because it is also located alongside the Colorado River.

Fruita Riverside Disc Golf Course. This course was built to host the Colorado State Championships in 2011. This is a more professional caliber 18 hole course, with water obstacles and multiple pin positions.
