A bat found by along the parade route in Greeley tested positive for rabies, a parade-goer saw the bat crawling in the grass and notified animal control services. Animal control came out and found the bat on the northeast corner of 13th Street and 10th Avenue in downtown Greeley.

If you or any of your pets came in contact with the bat or were bitten by the bat you are urged to contact the Weld County Health Department the number is 970-304-6415. Vaccination treatment is available for people who were bit by an infected animal.

To prevent from being exposed to rabies to do not pick up wildlife or touch or feed wildlife. Always make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies. It is a good idea to talk to your veterinarian about how often to have your cat or dog vaccinated against rabies.
