Authorities with Colorado Parks and Wildlife are asking Grand Junction residents to help them identify a poacher in the northwest part of the city.

According to the Vail Daily, Tuesday evening a dead deer was discovered in a field near the intersection of 24 Road and K Road. The antlers were still on the buck, and there was no apparent attempt to salvage any meat.

Parks officials say witnesses indicated there was a diesel truck in the area at the time. They hope the public can help them identify the driver of the truck - and/or that the person responsible will do the right thing and turn themselves in.

Anyone with information about the poaching incident is asked to call District Wildlife Manager Albert Romero at 970-216-3847. Information can also be given annonymously by calling Operation Game Thief at 877-265-6648.
