The family of owls who've made a tree on the Audubon Trail in Grand Junction their home made a rare public appearance Sunday. The owls chose to enjoy a little shower during an early evening rainfall.

Hikers and ornithologists have known about the owls for some time. Their home is located along the Audubon trail just west of Albertson's in the Redlands.

Rarely, though, do they make themselves visible to passersby. At best, one can occasionally hope to see the adult owl's ears poking up above their nest.

In the video above, you can spot the adult owl alone, followed by footage of two young owls in the nest, with the adult owl on a limb to the left and above.
