The Coronavirus has made this year strange and difficult in some aspects but life is what you make of it. And as I drive down North Avenue after spending time at work each day I notice dozens of people enjoying themselves on the Lincoln Park golf course. It seems like everyone is always enjoying themselves and I think I'm going to try to play golf for my first time.

Okay, I "played" one round before but I was 21 and it was all about drinking beer on the course. I don't even think we ended up finishing the round, but I'm going to actually see if I enjoy the sport soon.

My brother in law is going to be visiting in the next few weeks and he has been playing his whole life and asked me if I wanted to try it out. I'm always willing to try something new and I know we have nice courses here in Grand Junction so why not give it a try?

The problem I see already is that I get frustrated when I don't do well. I'm the youngest of five kids so I am competitive in everything I do, which is going to be tough when attempting a sport for essentially the first time.

That's why I am asking you if you have any tips or tricks for a first-time golfer? I'm preparing for a day of frustration, but looking forward to it at the same time. Do you think anyone would mind if I try to hit the ball like Happy Gilmore?

In all seriousness, I was told that Adobe Creek is a great course to play with beautiful views and it's not too expensive. What course would you recommend for a beginner?
