Over 40 volunteers covered 16 miles in the Western Association to Enjoy Rivers (W.A.T.E.R.) annual river cleanup event. It takes that many helpers when things like hot tubs show up in the water.

The Cleanup went from Corn Lake State Park all the way to Fruita. This is the 12th year this has been going on and things like kitchen sinks, mini motorcycles, a hot tub, bicycles, and much more has been found over these years.

Cleanup coordinator Bob Richardson said they want to leave a good impression for people visiting Grand Junction and don't want them seeing a junked out river. On top of helping with the beauty of the river, these cleanups also help with the safety of it. Many of the items removed from the river can be dangerous to rafters.

It is important to remember you are not the only one using the river; clean up after yourself.
