A man reported missing was found dead on Sunday.

Riding a motorcycle is dangerous. Cruzing the highway or on a trail, riding a two-wheeler brings with it dangers and risks like no other mode of transportation. It was a friend of mines brush with death that got me off a motorcycle. I hadn't really missed riding much until I moved here. Western Colorado offers some of the best bike ridings, on and off-road, in the country and I've been seriously considering getting back on a two-wheeler.

However, when something like this happens, I find myself second guessing the decision to start riding again. I am sorry to report a man was found dead on Sunday by Sheriff's deputies and local rescue teams. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says the 31-year-old man was reported missing late Saturday night. His body was later found in the 29 Road area just north of I-70. The actual cause of death is yet to be determined but it appears to have been a dirt-bike riding accident.

A few reminders to riders, never ride alone. It's always best to have someone riding along in case there is trouble. When going for a ride, always let someone know where you're headed. And of course, always wear a helmet.

A reminder to drivers, the weather is warming and soon there will be more and more motorcycles on the road. Always give the rider room and look both ways not once, but twice, before proceeding or making a turn. "I didn't see him" is the response most given by drivers when getting hit by a motorcycle. That's exactly what the driver of the pick-up that pulled in front of my friend said. He's been in a wheelchair ever since.
