Watch any video of Waylon Jennings performing, and you'll notice he's wearing a leather wristband on his left arm. Why was that do you suppose? Fashion statement? Was it bullet proof like Wonder Woman's wristbands? The answer may surprise you. Then again, it might not.

The origin of the wristband is simple. Waylon was involved in a car wreck and broke his wrist. He began wearing the wristband because he felt it supported his wrist while playing guitar. So, then, why did he continue wearing it after his injuries healed?

Put simply, he continued to wear the wristband because.... he liked it. It looked cool, and Waylon felt it added support to his wrist which contributed to his kick-butt guitar playing. Waylon didn't mess around. He wore it because he liked it.
