The 2014 Grammy nominees were announced Friday night (Dec. 6) during a concert broadcast live out of Los Angeles.

‘The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night' show returned to its California base after a year in Nashville, but that doesn't mean that country music was ignored in the 2014 Grammy nominations. As anticipated, Taylor Swift scored pop nods in addition to a showing in her usual country categories, but there will likely be some surprises come January.

For one, country 'newcomer' Kacey Musgraves is up for Best New Artist -- an all-genre category which includes Swift's tourmate Ed Sheeran, plus Macklemore + Ryan Lewis. The 'Follow Your Arrow' songstress is likely hopefully her arrow will point to at least one win, as she's also up for Best Country Album against Swift's 'Red,' Tim McGraw's 'Two Lanes of Freedom' and more. Musgraves is even looking at a win for Best Country Song -- Miranda Lambert's 'Mama's Broken Heart,' on which she was a songwriter, has received a nod in addition to her own release, 'Merry Go 'Round.'

Who will take home the night's biggest prizes? We don't have long to wait to find out! The 56th annual Grammy Awards will take air on Sunday, Jan. 26.
