Just look around. Your skis, snowboards and other winter items are just sitting there. If you want to enjoy the snow, you have to drive for hours, and where's the fun in that?

So let's take a look at a few things we can do right here, without snow. If you don't mind cold, get busy having fun!

Golf

Yep. First thing that came to my mind was getting out and losing a couple hundred golf balls. Because that's how I play. Badly. But I don't care I just love to play the game. And with several places right here to play, you can enjoy and not use up a lot of gas. Chipeta Golf Course, Lincoln Park Golf Course or Redlands Mesa Golf Course are just a few of the places locally where you can get that much needed exercise. And the money I save on gas I can use to buy more golf balls!

Hiking

We all love to hike. And since many feel it's just a summer thing, we wanted to make sure you gave a nice winter hike a thought. A brisk hike along the Short Shot trail, which links into other trails as well, let's you get your hike on without the potential heat stroke. The Bang's Canyon and Mica Mine trails are also exceptional hikes. Dress appropriately, though.

Biking

Many people winterize their bikes, doing all the maintenance required to get it ready for the next riding season. Well, the season can start early this year. Get your bikes out and head to the trails and enjoy the feeling of brisk, cold air on your face. Just don't forget to wear gloves! Try the Eagles Wing Loop in Grand Junction or head out to Mack and enjoy the Troy Built Loop for some expert riding.

Whatever it is you like to do, get out and do it. Just because there's no snow around here doesn't mean we can't have fun!
