To help celebrate National Boss' Day, we are searching for the BEST boss in the Grand Junction area.

Bosses need love too. We all can conger up that stereotypical mean guy boss, but that's not always the case.

Most of the bosses I have had throughout my life have been good people. Not without the odd exception, but overall have had some great people to work for.

National Boss' Day started in Deerfiled, IL by a lady named Patricia Bays Haroski. While working for her father as a secretary, Patricia came up with the idea of selecting one day a year to show her bosses how much she appreciated them. October 16th was chosen because it was her father's birthday. In 1958 she registered the day as 'National Boss' Day' with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Eventually, Illinois Governor Otto Kerner got wind of this and decided to get behind the idea. So, in 1962 the Governor backed Haroski's registration and October 16th was proclaimed as 'National Boss' Day.'

It is even recognized in places such as Australia, India, Egypt and Ireland.

Strangely enough, Hallmark Cards did not even offer Boss' Day cards until 1979.

We are on the search for the BEST boss in the Grand Junction area.
