The Rose Hill Rally is coming up, and I need to start training. One problem: my bike needs a considerable amount of TLC. Where would you recommend I go to have my bike worked on?

I ride a mid-level mountain bike with more than a few miles on it. In addition to needing new tubes, the gears need a little attention, and the bike needs an overall tune up.

There are those things I can do myself, and a handful of things I don't dare touch. Ideally, it would be nice to get out and start training this weekend. Why do I need to train for a simple ride like the Rose Hill Rally? There are three reasons:

  • I'm old
  • I'm fat
  • I haven't been on my bike all Winter

Given my current condition, any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. A finely tuned bike won't hurt, either.

I need someplace fast, cheap, and good. Story of my life: "fast, cheap, and good." It's kind of like "The Fast and the Furious," except it's "The Fat and the Cheap."
