Smoke on the Western Slope Not From Super Volcano
If you notice a haze across Western Colorado this weekend, it's not from a super volcano, it's intentional.
It was actually from the prescribed burns with the USDA Forest Service.
If weather conditions allow for it, they are planing prescribed burns on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre & Gunnison National Forests (GMUG).
GMUG, which manages approximately 3-million acres of land, takes many factors into consideration when planning these types of burns, number one being the safety of the firefighters, as well as public and private properties.
They even have to obtain smoke permits from the the State of Colorado!
