Volunteers play an important role with the BLM, with over 500 hours being donated by individuals being valued at $327,831. Partner groups also donated 12,562 hosted-worker hours valued at $273,726.
This is largely work that would not have been completed without volunteers, as a matter of fact volunteers removed nearly seven tons of garbage from the public lands north of Rifle this past Saturday as part of an annual clean-up sponsored by Hi Country 4 Wheelers and White River Trail Runners.

Plus volunteers from both organizations and the Aspen Dirt Bike School designed and constructed a motocross track for visitors to the Bureau of Land Management’s Hubbard Mesa OHV area to use! Greg Wolfgang, outdoor recreation planner for the BLM’s Colorado River Valley Field Office said,
We hope these improvements will make this popular OHV area an even better experience for the public, and we hope they will discourage the amount of illegal dumping that also occurs in this area. We really appreciate all of the volunteer support from the local clubs, businesses, users, and local governments. These types of on-going partnerships help the BLM to provide better recreation opportunities to the public”
