Let's shake off this cold weather. How hot has it gotten here?

With December in full swing and the temperatures dropping this week and into the weekend, it might be a good time for a reminder of what is waiting for us on the other side.

Hot. Heat. Warmness. Suntans. And more hot. Love it!

There are two sources that claim they have they correct information on Grand Junction's hottest days on record.

First up is weatherDB. This website claims that the hottest recorded day was on July 5, 1937. It topped out at a balmy 111 degrees.

At climatespy.com, they have several of the hottest listed.

  • June 30, 1979 at 109.9 degrees
  • June 28, 1990 at 105.1 degrees
  • July 15, 2002 at 105.1 degrees
  • July 14, 2003 at 105.1 degrees
  • July 22, 2005 at 105.1 degrees

Apparently, we just can't break that 106 mark.

Who remembers record hot days here in Grand Junction? For me, it seems I remember cold days more. Maybe because I despise them? Possible. Just bring me the heat.
