Spend your Halloween taking a tour of Grand Junction's oldest cemeteries. Learn the history of both Whitewater Cemetery and Orchard Mesa Cemetery during your tour.

Unless you want me to hold your hand throughout this tour, I think I'll sit this one out. On October 28, tour begins on at the high on a hill in the desert, at Whitewater Cemetery. This place definitely gives some Wild West vibes from the creepy, old, entrance of the cemetery, to the wooden headstones.

Second stop of this creepy, cool (if you think scary is cool) tour is Orchard Mesa Cemetery. Both local legends, George A. Crawford and Walter Walker are buried in this cemetery. Sorry but this history doesn't overshadow the scariness for me. Maybe you're braver than I am. Your tour guides  through the cemeteries are:

  • Marie Tipping
    • Loyd Files Research Library volunteer and local historian
  • Erin Schmitz
    • Curator of Collections & Archives
  • Garry Brewer
    • Loyd Files Research Library volunteer and Museum board member

Space is limited! If you want to take a tour of Whitewater Cemetery and Orchard Mesa Cemetery on Saturday, October 28, check it out here. I think this scaredy cat will be making other plans for Halloween, like maybe just eating a lot of candy.
