Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Rick Upchurch is teaming up with various Grand Junction businesses to help raise awareness and support for the Rick Upchurch Leukemia & Lymphoma Assistance Fund.

Stellar Realty, Major Mortgage and St. Mary’s Cancer Foundation are helping Upchurch by sponsoring a tailgate party fundraiser this Sunday (September 21) at the Ale House, 2531 North 12TH Street in Grand Junction.

The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Former players Lilo Lang and Ron Egloff are expected to join Upchurch in attending this event.

Organizers say the tailgate party will include watching the Super Bowl rematch between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks on the big screen, autograph signing, raffles, silent auction, food, and live music.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the Rick Upchurch Leukemia & Lymphoma Assistance Fund at St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center.

Organizers say the funds are marketed to assist Leukemia & Lymphoma cancer patients with emergency financial assistance, such as travel and lodging expenses for families with children fighting the disease.

The Ale House has also stated the restaurant will donate 10 percent of their food sales during Sunday’s tailgate party will go to the Rich Upchurch Leukemia and Lymphoma Assistance Fund.
