If you are a smart Grand Junction driver you will avoid this Grand Junction intersection at all cost on Thursday.

The stoplight at the intersection of Unaweep and 29 Road is finally going in, and I'm told Thursday is the day when the stoplight poles will be put in place. That will require the use of a crane, which means traffic must be stopped periodically in all directions, which will create some massive delays.

When I was there last week inquiring about their progress, traffic on Unaweep was backed up14-15 cars, while on 29 Road, traffic was backed up all the way past B 1/2 Road. I was told Thursday's delays will be far worse.

There's no word yet on exactly when the new stoplight will be functional, but we know it's going to be soon. The original target date was April 1 and they might just hit it.

But, what we do know is that you would be well advised to find an alternative route on Thursday to avoid these delays. You can't say I didn't warn you. But, just think how nice it will be to finally have a stoplight at what has been dubbed Grand Junction's Worst Intersection Without a Stoplight.
