Scotty McCreery married longtime love Gabi Dugal in a beautiful ceremony on Saturday (June 16). People confirms that the couple wed in their native North Carolina in front of 200 family and friends.

Dugal wore a gown by Morilee for a ceremony that was officiated by McCreery's childhood pastor and during which the couple exchanged vows they had written. Later, McCreery and his bride had their first dance as husband and wife to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love." Guests enjoyed Cajun-style dishes, including steak and pasta, and in lieu of cake were served pies — a plan McCreery previously shared with Taste of Country.

McCreery's father was his best man.

The couple have known each other since kindergarten, and they began dating about six years ago when they were seniors at Garner High School in Garner, N.C., around the time McCreery won Season 10 of American Idol. She’s been in several of his music videos, but he didn't reveal their relationship in public for years, until she was comfortable with it.

They got engaged in September 2017 after McCreery planned an elaborate proposal that took place during a hike to one of their favorite spots near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. The proposal is the subject of his latest single, "This Is It."

Taste of Country spoke to McCreery in April as he was preparing for the 2018 ACM Awards. The couple were in the final stretch of wedding preparations, and while he admitted to some nerves, he was mostly just excited to start his life with his bride.

"It’s a huge step for us," he said. "I mean, we have truly grown up together and I look forward to learning even more about each other once we are married. I’m excited to come home to her instead of a house filled with guys. I mean, I love my guys but ..."

McCreery told Taste of Country Nights that the couple will honeymoon "somewhere tropical." They leave Tuesday for Tahiti, according to People.
