Most of you know I recently lost a piece of my heart when Jazz died.

The grief I feel is at times overwhelming and it feels as though it will consume sometimes. I'm sure others have felt this way and so Roice-Hurst Humane Society has put together a grief counseling session for those like me who can't seem to get over the loss of their beloved pet.

It doesn't matter if you recently lost your pet or not, if you still feel the grief, this counseling session will be cathartic for you.

The first counseling session will be Wednesday, December 12 at Roice-Hurst offices at 362 28 Road from 6-7 PM.

Leading the session will be Stacy Schoolfield, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist, and will occur on the second Wednesday of every other month.

The loss of a beloved pet can be devastating and have a profound effect on overall health, so it's important to recognize your grief and to begin the healing process by honoring your pet and healing yourself.

If you are interested in attending, you can call Roice-Hurst at 970-434-7337 or email ashley@rhhumanesociety.org.

See you there.
