District 51 Mesa County School Board members are discussing various proposals for adjusting start times for their schools.

Meeting Wednesday, there were six different possible scenarios discussed for resetting the school clocks. Some of these ideas could save the district up to $235,000 a year. From this report from KKCO NEWS, one of the main proposals is to reset the clocks and start anywhere from 30-40 minutes later than the current schedule.

There were discussions for and against these suggestions as the District 51 Board members tries to figure out what, if any, is the best plan as they look into the future.

When I was high school, the start time was 8:27 a.m. and the let out time was 3:19 p.m. Back then, I thought having to get up at 7:30 a.m. was EARLY!  Never dreaming that my career choice would entail me in having to get up every morning at 3:15 a.m.
