Vocal Group of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards might just be one of the most fascinating wins at 50th annual awards show, partially because three of the nominees have dominated the category for over a decade and partially because one of them is complete newcomer.

Will Little Big Town take home the trophy for the fifth year in a row, or will Lady Antebellum or Rascal Flatts claim the crown back for themselves? Will Zac Brown Band finally win in the category in their eighth nominated year, or will Old Dominion upset the entire game by taking home their first win ever?

The CMA Awards Vocal Group of the Year since 2012, Little Big Town have dominated the category for four years, and the success they've seen in 2016 could very well make it five. Along with winning the Crystal Milestone Award at this year's ACM Honors and Vocal Group of the Year at the 2016 ACM Awards, LBT released their seventh studio album in June (though it's not a country album), and the release of Wanderlust only proves further that Little Big Town know no boundaries.

Lady Antebellum are also up for Vocal Group of the Year, and the trio may just take back the title for the first time since 2011. Not only did Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott have a huge summer on the road, with over 22 shows scheduled across America, they also hosted the ACM Honors. Even while taking a months-long step back from the spotlight, Lady Antebellum made 2016 their year, and they may just make the 2016 CMA Awards their night as well.

If you're talking about bands that have had a big year, you have to talk about Rascal Flatts. Without even releasing a new record, Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney played shows all over America on their 2016 Rhythm and Roots Tour and recorded their first-ever Christmas album. On top of all that, the boys are making their first foray into food service, with plans to open a brand-new restaurant later this year.

Nominated for Vocal Group of the Year for the eighth time in a row, the Zac Brown Band have yet to take home a win -- but 2016 might just be their year! The boys took their show on the road this year for the four-month-long Black Out the Sun Tour; the run brought the band's epic live performances to over two dozen cities across the U.S. and included their spot-on harmonies, country hits and a healthy dose of covers to surprise and delight fans.

Old Dominion have been in the game for a few years thanks to their writing skills, but 2016 saw the band find its own success following the release of their debut album, Meat and Candy. The boys got their first No. 1 single with "Break Up With Him" and performed at the 2016 ACM Awards, and now, after two summers opening for Kenny Chesney, they'll get the chance to headline their own tour this fall.
