The driver involved in the accident that killed Colorado State Trooper Cody Donahue has been identified.

41-year-old Noe Gamez-Ruiz, of Denver, has been charged with careless driving and failure to yield the right away to an emergency vehicle.

Gamez-Ruiz was behind the wheel of a commercial food service vehicle northbound on Interstate 25 when he struck Trooper Donahue, who was out of his vehicle investigating a separate accident.

Gamez-Ruiz remained on the scene at the time of the accident. He has been charged and released from jail.
