According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office a small plane crashed on Glade Park this morning around 10:30.

The Ultralite plane crashed at 15801 Pinyon Park Road in Glade Park on top of the Colorado National Monument.

The 74 year old pilot was Glade Park resident James L. Dittrick. Apparently he had just taken off from the landing strip on his property when the wind caused him concern.

Unfortunately when he attempted to turn the plane it tangled into the power lines on his neighbor’s property.

According to Grand Valley Power 11 customers were effected by the outage and they have already replaced the pole and damaged power line.

Dittrick was reported to have walked away with only a scratch on his nose!
