At long last, after years of begging, In-N-Out Burger has set their sights on opening a store in Colorado. Burger lovers rejoice!

The announcement just came down this morning (Thursday, November 30). Westside Investment Partners is under contract to purchase land in north Colorado Springs.

This marks the first In-N-Out to open in Colorado. Utah and Nevada have several In-N-Out Burger joints to choose from. Coloradans have been begging for years for a location here.

You'll notice the term "franchise" does appear anywhere. In-N-Out Burger is, in fact, not a franchise. According to a CBS interview, it is unlikely the chain will ever go public or offer franchise opportunities.

The only reason we would do that is for the money, and I wouldn’t do that. My heart is totally connected to this company because of my family, and the fact that they are not here – I have a strong tie to keep this the way they would want it.” – In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder

My first experience with In-N-Out Burger was with the Las Vegas Location just off Dean Martin Drive. I had been hearing about the place for years, but never understood what all the fuss was about.

The burgers and fries are excellent. What impressed me most, though, was the efficiency of the restaurant. Talk about a well-oiled machine. Wow.

Look out, Colorado Springs! According to Fox 31 in Denver, the company has no estimates as to when doors will open. In the meantime, if you're dying for an In-N-Out Burger, you'll have to make the drive to Salt Lake, where they have several, or Las Vegas. Granted, Colorado Springs isn't exactly a hop, skip, and a jump down the road, but it's slightly more convenient than the drive to Salt Lake.
